"This is coming from a State Farm customer since 1993. When I first became a customer of State Farm I was dating (now my wife) and I had USAA insurance at the time. But we did comparison of service, speciality and coverage. Started with renters insurance, but quickly moved to auto insurance, and then the next year 1994 into home/mtg insurance. Over time we collected a number of precious articles (diamonds/watches/etc…) so added Personal property and also want a whole life insurance. Now with four vehicles and two homes we cover ourselves intelligently and work to get the maximum utilization of our insurance. Which we have had throughtout the decades in states that we’ve lived in California (which we had earthquake insurance via State Farm). A TEAM that STANDS BY YOU ! So what do you get with State Farm that the wholesalers and competitors don’t give you. This is easy to say as I continually (proabably too many times) do cost vs value comparisons. But State Farm offers top products for the times but also service. We had Rudy Shields for a few decades and now have Mary Hitchcock and her FANTASTIC team out of the Sterling, VA office. Why fantastic, well it’s simple they know their processes, their products and really work to be honest as to IF it makes sense to insure certain items, debate and talk about deductible trade-off’s, and are willing to review competitors offering to really consult on our comfort levels. Who Likes paying for Insurance ? Ok, it’s not the most exciting thing to think about - which is LOSS! Be it when problems arise, things, break, leak or lost or damaged. But It’s life… and it’s reassuring to know that we are getting what we pay for… it’s not seeking always the cheapest or getting the price discount because like all things of this type you go cheap then don’t expect to get the best product or service. Where Mary Hitchcock and her office team have built is a savvy and efficient insurance team. They are responsive, positive and are so WILLING to not just turn around quotes and collect money but really delve into the WHY you need something or don’t need it. In the case of insurance, stop and think. It’s not a race and having your insurance with too many fractured providers also is for many just overwhelming. I know that is for me. Bottom Line / Peace of Mind Seek out the best! I know when my wife and I switched to Mary’s office, and it was due time. Our prior State Farm agent’s decision to retire, left us thinking should we look at another insurance company or just the agency model of State Farm. But we are more than glad we did switch to Mary Hitchcock’s office with State Farm. This review is probably a decade plus overdue. And was driven as we had another evaluation for a declaration to add to our homeowners policy for sewer/water/cable coverage being solicited constantly to us by Dominion Energy/HomeServ. Since our homes are now hitting +20 yrs old, this type of coverage is a smart spend. Sewer/water and cable lines are being dug around our neighborhoods all the time now, so why not include just the inside the home? State Farm is just beginning to offer this type of insurance to homeowners and critical services coming into our home can be easily damaged unintentionally, due to age of the pipes/lines, being damaged tree roots, rodents or most likely upgrades by other vendors and their mishaps in digging. So once again, reviewing and comparison shopping with other vendors and State Farm, we found again that our insurance “consultant” Mary Hitchcock and team were able to provide a superior product and services review for us to again pick State Farm for our needs. "This place is not great. I don’t recommend coming to this location. When we first walked in we were looked at weird and not greeted. We liked the quotes we got, when we decided we were ready to change the system was down and we were told the lady was gonna email us the next day. She said she would email us in the morning, didn’t get an email at all until I emailed and still no response until the following day. She didn’t seem to care at all and was VERY HOSTILE. So we went to a DIFFERENT LOCATION and we got treated super differently and way better."

"I left my State Farm representative who works out of Ashburn because he and his staff were incompetent. I switched to Mary Hitchcock a little over a year ago, and she is a genuinely caring person. She went over all our policies and found out the representative in Ashburn had valued our house well above its actual value. She was able to save me $400 on my policy. My advice to anyone using the representative in Ashburn is that you may want switch to Mary as your rep."
